PHOTOGRAPHY. SHAPED BY IDENTITY, CARE & CONNECTION
BRIDGING CLINICAL AND DOCUMENTARY PRACTICE - CAPTURING THE HUMAN STORIES THAT OFTEN GO UNSEEN
ABOUT
Rian is a Manchester-based photographer whose work explores identity, care, and connection.
His practice is firmly rooted in early experiences of remembrance and community — shaped largely by a childhood spent living behind a village churchyard, where themes of loss, ritual, and quiet care were ever-present.
Alongside continuing my independent practice, he works within a busy NHS hospital, working with clinical photographers and expanding his focus into medical spaces where care is both visible and unseen.
This has deepened his interest in how identity is preserved, supported, and sometimes erased within institutional systems.
